12 podcast episodes from 2019 worth listening to
Outside of books, podcasts are where I go to learn. (In fact, they are the perfect complement to a book. Most notable authors now "Do the podcast rounds" when launching a book, and you can get a fuller picture of what their upcoming book is about, as well as their journey to this point and the context it was written it. Podcasts can lead to a richer reading experience.)
More generally speaking, you can get a working knowledge of literally any topic now, for free, just by listening to experts on podcasts. It's amazing.
With that in mind (and not specifically book-related) here are some great podcasts I listened to in 2019 (well...mostly 2019 :) )
Seth Godin is a publishing machine, having been in the industry for a large portion of his life. He has seen the changes the publishing has gone through and has great advice for navigating this new world on this Business of Authority Podcast.
Sarah Peck's body of work at Startup Pregnant is always worth dipping into. In this episode of the Fizzle Show, she outlines a genius way to plan your days, weeks and months to maximise your year.
Rory Sutherland is my find of the year. This Farnham Street podcast is a great primer on his unique ways of seeing the world, through the lens of marketing and behavioral economics.
Listening to this episode of Michael Gervais' great "Finding Mastery" podcast, I was surprised to hear Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, talking so much about empathy.
One thing is for certain with Tom Bilyeu, you can't ignore his energy. The founder of Quest Nutrition has a ton of wisdom to share in his keynote podcast.
Need an amazing primer on Cognitive Psychology from a guy wearing a shopping bag on his face? Look no further.
The first episode of this 2 part series from Entre Leadership is with Michael Gervais (again). Its hard-won knowledge from a guy whose business is elite performance.
I'm not sure if I had ever listened to the great Steven Pressfield in conversation, and yet here he is with Brian Koppelman . And yes, he does talk about The Resistance.
"They say that practice makes perfect. I'll settle for "practice makes good". This short Design Tomorrow podcast looks at the simple act of practicing.
Cal Fussman interviewing Seth Godin leads down some fascinating roads. A master storyteller chatting with a master marketer hold value for us all.
Tim Ferriss has access to the world's best, and his podcast is among my top 4. For instance, this episode with Dr. Gabor Mate on addiction also speaks more broadly to mental health and the things that trap us daily. Unsettling at times, it’s pretty special.
Last, and by no means least, this episode called "Nudge Forward" on the always fascinating Long and Short of It Podcast came at the perfect time for me. Big advice in little words. To be honest, it’s hard to pick just one from this great podcast! If you don't subscribe, look Pete and Jen up and prepare for some knowledge bombs.

That's it! Of course, there were many, many more podcasts that I wanted to share, but I'm sure your podcast queues are creaking from the strain as it. Let me know in the comments: what 1 episode of a podcast surprised you?
