The Meaning In Life

“What is the meaning of life?”. It’s a question pondered through the centuries, a question that has a short answer in the number “42”, a question that has had some serious smarts thrown at it, including the ebullient Derek Sivers. It’s a great question, partly because its hard, mostly because it leads to other questions.

One way to answer it, is to sidestep the issue and instead ask not “what is the meaning of life?” but instead “What is the meaning in life?”.

For example, The Stoics believed that true joy was to be found in helping others, and in being able to discern between the things outside of our control and those within our control.

For me, it’s the things I do, the artefacts I create, the connections I make and the actions I take to help those around me that forge a path worth walking in life.

What is the meaning in your life?
