Bring me your sunk costs. You don’t need them. No one does.Bring them to me and leave them here. I don’t know what I’ll do with them but I do know that you probably don’t need them.Be it old relationships that don’t serve either person any more, be it “bad money” you spent that still that haunts you and isn’t helping you now, be it time you felt you wasted and will never see again, or the manuscript you have been working on for the last 3 years but know deep down is going nowhere. Hug them, leave them and walk the other way. Recognise that they were a part of your journey to here, to this exact moment, and in that sense can be regarded as a gift from your past self to your self of right now. These decisions made sense once, but probably no longer. Even the big ones, especially the big ones. They may have got you here, but chances are, they wont get you there. Chances are, they will keep you stuck if you find yourself dwelling on them.So leave them here. Or leave them anywhere you like.Your last success now lies in leaving them well.
