Write once, edit once.
Heres what Im going to do from here on in. Im going to write once, edit once. 2 tries. Thats it.They say writing is really editing, and I believe it, but the editing process tends to add drift and doubt to the writing process. And that helps nobody, especially the people waiting to see and read your work.
So a new plan. Something worth attempting. Something the new Hemingway might use to create a new body of work.
Write once. Get it down. As Steven Pressfield told us - “Get to the end as if the devil himself were breathing down your neck and poking you in the butt with his pitchfork. Believe me, he is."
Rest.
Edit once. Read over it with a view to it being the last time you every see it alone. Watch every word, every sentence, every paragraph. If it doesn't work put it away. It doesn't deserve more of your time, which can be better spent on the next gem.
Write once. Edit Once. Worth a try.
